Welcome to SL #4! In this show, we have a great chat about the state of technology entrepreneurship in Georgia. Joining us is Tino Mantella, the President of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).

Shownotes:

In this show, we focus on the state of entrepreneurship in Georgia. What TAG initiatives are there to support and promote entrepreneurship? What trends are there? How does TAG’s Entrepreneurial Society differentiate itself from other, similar groups in Georgia?

Tune in and find out!

Our format is a little out of the norm as far as podcasts go. We treat our efforts as a true “show” rather than a super-concise (limited) vehicle for delivery of information. Therefore, the podcasts can run a bit long. While we try to have very substantive discussions, we also try to have a lot of fun along the way (and that tends to elongate the programming a wee bit.) :) Our theory is that if we are having fun during the show, hopefully, you will be having a little fun listening as well.

Here is the breakdown for the show, in case you want to hop around.

Intro 00:00 to 00:51

We’ll be back in just a few short weeks with Mitch Free, the founder and CEO of MFG.com, one of the great B2B startup success stories of the past few years. We’ll have a lively discussion around bootstrapping, and you won’t want to miss it!

We welcome your continued feedback as well! If you have an interest in appearing on the show, becoming a show sponsor (hint, hint), have some suggestions for topics, have feedback, or would just like to email us and tell us to “shove off”, we invite you to contact us.

And don’t forget – the StartupLounge.com message forums are up and running. If you need help with any aspect of your venture, we welcome you to jump in and get the help you need!

Enjoy!

Excellent Show guys! Keep this coming. I was very impressed with Tino and his grasp of the startup/entrepreneurial environment in Atlanta. To be honest, I thought TAG was all about Big companies and their IT departments. The fact that Tino and the leaders of ATDC etc are conversing about the situation and what can be done is refreshing. A $30 million dollar seed fund would be a heck of a way to start!

Great show guys!!! This installment in particular reminds me of The Public Forum http://www.thepublicforum.org. The show was THE source for matters of policy and current events in Tennessee. If Tino were on The Public Forum he would have been a one man Round Table. The Round Table (which is actually oval) was comprised of movers and shakers who discussed the events of the day. Tino’s discussion and the news he broke on your show was similar to the Public Forum’s famous “What Do You Hear?” segment, where guests would reveal tasty water cooler tidbits that usually turned out to be true. The show represents a significant part of process to address the many challenges faced by entrepreneurs here in Georgia!

I concur with everyone here in that this was definitely a good show. I saw today that the Atlanta Biz Chronicle has an article on the new fund that Tino was talking about, but I heard it here 1st!

Thanks for tuning in, and for the kind words, everyone!

The landscape in Atlanta is evolving. I think the proposed fund that we discussed on the show could be a nice instrument, although it certainly won’t address all of our issues in this market. But is a great start! Tino has agreed to come back on the show at some point and give us an update, so we’re definitely looking forward to that.

To build on your other comments, I do think we want to continue to leverage the show as a source for breaking news. I can tell you that based on our current guest list, we have some interesting possibilities in this regard.

    Cheers.
    Scott
