Happy new year, and welcome to SL #3! This happens to be our first “impromptu show.” Our normal January show will be posted in the next few weeks, but once our friend Anne Simons dropped by and we began to have a great chat about how entrepreneurs can get the most out of consultants, we decided to pull together a quick show.

Shownotes:
In this show, we focus on how entrepreneurs can best leverage consultants as they build their businesses. What types of consultants are out there, and why would I use them? How do I find a good consultant? Do you use them short-term or long-term? What is the best way to compensate a consultant? What about bootstrappers, and reciprocating services with consultants?
Tune in and find out!
Our format is a little out of the norm as far as podcasts go. We treat our efforts as a true “show” rather than a super-concise (limited) vehicle for delivery of information. Therefore, the podcasts can run a bit long. While we try to have very substantive discussions, we also try to have a lot of fun along the way (and that tends to elongate the programming a wee bit.)
Our theory is that if we are having fun during the show, hopefully, you will be having a little fun listening as well.
Here is the breakdown for the show, in case you want to hop around.
| Intro | 00:00 to 00:58 |
| Smalltalk and introductions: | 00:59 to 05:50 |
| Short Break: | 06:03 to 06:30 |
| Discussion topic: Consultants | 06:30 to 30:13 |
| Commercial/Comedy Break: | 30:13 to 31:29 |
| Wrap-up: | 31:29 to 33:56 |

We’ll be back in just a few short weeks with Tino Mantella, the President of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). We’ll be chatting about TAG’s strategy for promoting entrepreneurship in Georgia – if you are a Georgia-based technology entrepreneur, you won’t want to miss it!
We welcome your continued feedback as well! If you have an interest in appearing on the show, becoming a show sponsor (hint, hint), have some suggestions for topics, have feedback, or would just like to email us and tell us to “shove off”, we invite you to contact us.
And don’t forget – the StartupLounge.com message forums are up and running. If you need help with any aspect of your venture, we welcome you to jump in and get the help you need!
Enjoy!

A bit of real-life consulting humor from my blog post this morning:
“How to be a Bad Consultant”
Cheers.
