Welcome to SL #2 - our podcast for December, 2006!

In this show, we discuss the gaming and digital entertainment industry. Chris Klaus of Kaneva fame dropped by to chat with us, so you won’t want to miss that. Santa Claus also stopped in (and told Scott that he wasn’t getting a Nintendo Wii for Christmas!); and you won’t want to miss Mike and the “mystery hat” (photo below!)

Shownotes:

In this show, we focus on the gaming and digital entertainment industry in Georgia. What areas should entrepreneurs be exploring? Can two guys in a garage still compete with the big game publishers and studios? What are the big trends? How are virtual worlds evolving? Is the consumer/user demographic shifting?
Tune in and find out!

Unfortunately, there was a little bit of natural room reverb in parts of the show - this was due to the addition of the third mic for our guest. It still sounds fine, but just a niggling little detail. Don’t worry, we’ll get that little kink worked out for the next show!

Our format is a little out of the norm as far as podcasts go. We treat our efforts as a true “show” rather than a super-concise (limited) vehicle for delivery of information. Therefore, the podcasts can run a bit long. While we try to have very substantive discussions, we also try to have a lot of fun along the way (and that tends to elongate the programming a wee bit.) :) Our theory is that if we are having fun during the show, hopefully, you will be having a little fun listening as well.

Here is the breakdown for the show, in case you want to skip past our rather lengthy opening segment.

Intro 00:00 to 00:44
Smalltalk and introduction: 00:45 to 14:47
Commercial/Comedy Break: 14:48 to 15:58
Discussion topic: Gaming Discussion 15:59 to 42:00
Commercial/Comedy Break: 42:01 to 44:27
Wrap-up: 44:28 to 46:42

We’ll be taking a break over the holidays, but we’ll be back in January with Tino Mantella, the President of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). We’ll be chatting about TAG’s strategy for promoting entrepreneurship in Georgia - you won’t want to miss it!

We welcome your continued feedback as well! If you have an interest in appearing on the show, becoming a show sponsor (hint, hint), have some suggestions for topics, have feedback, or would just like to email us and tell us to “shove off”, we invite you to contact us.

Enjoy!
