I love your new focus and agree with your assesment of the current state of the startup community. Over the last 24 months there has been no lack of places to pitch. The problem has been that the available investors weren’t convinced that our companies would actually make any money. This caused a lot of finger pointing by both sides. I believe that if the startup community refocuses its efforts on building better companies instead of more convincing powerpoints, we’ll all be in a better place five years from now.

Excellent plan! This shows a great deal of maturity for the organization and leaders of StartupLounge. I’ve listened to almost every post cast. Much of my pondering is now around execution and operational excellence. The downturn has blessed / forced many of us to go identity and qualify paying anchor customers first. Generally, investment rounds should simply be an accelerator for a winning model.

Very early seed capital remains critical some cases. It is important that models be allowed to fail quickly and often. That is what made Silicon Valley a unique and prosperous culture.

Second part of the podcast sounds like a true story. Scott, Mike do do real life conversational records. It gives valuable authenticity.

And of cause, Gordon is a champ. It seems that the troubled economy does something good after all. The startup ecosystem cleans up. Only devoted and dedicated people remain. The people, who understand the very tender roots and vital value of entrepreneurship, who can resist cynical labeling and diverting push of greedy public, will tech us the lesson of recovery.

This is a great idea, it’s like a barter community for Atlanta. It seems like the hardest part of starting a company is building an initial product, and this would be an invaluable tool for growing the start-up economy. Great interview – you guys do a good job getting into the gritty details. I am familiar with Mitch’s story via a friend of his, and it is even more impressive to hear him describe the pitfalls he encountered and what he learend from them.

It would be a cool value added service if you guys could connect the listeners to the interviewees via their blog site or some sort of pre-negotiated follow up process you have. Mitch (and most entrepreneurs I have met) seem like the type of people that want to share their experience with others to help them bootstrap to success.
