Scott Burkett

In his most recent position as interim-CEO, and later CEO/Chairman of PlayMotion, Inc., Mr. Burkett achieved record revenues of $1.5M in 2007 and grew the business by 86%. After expanding the pipeline from $200K to nearly $10M, Mr. Burkett also lowered the cost of sales by 17% and rolled out a new product line. Under his leadership, PlayMotion secured new business and strategic relationships with Walt Disney, Cartoon Network, NASCAR, Bravo TV, Sanofi Aventis, SEGA, and AMC Theaters. During his tenure, PlayMotion earned a Top 10 Innovative Company award from the Technology Association of Georgia.

As founder of Incursio, Inc., he was responsible for the incubation and technology infrastructure for a variety of technology ventures, including several successful exits.

He maintains a blog at scottburkett.com, where he writes very actively on technology, venture capital, entrepreneurship, and the Atlanta startup scene.

Prior to Incursio, he served as the Vice President of Technology & Development for MetalMaker, Inc., a venture-backed B2B net market maker on the supply side of the steel industry. Before joining the MetalMaker executive team, Mr. Burkett held senior positions with iXL, Cambridge Technology Partners and CAP Gemini America. During his IT and management consulting career, Mr. Burkett focused on providing IT strategy, engineering, and assimilation solutions for a portfolio of primarily Fortune 500 clients, including Goldman Sachs, Chase Manhattan, Citibank, GTE, Bellsouth, Zurich-Kemper, American Airlines, Ford Motor Company, Franklin-Templeton, and IBM.

He is a very active member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), and sits on the Board of Directors for the TAG Business & Technology Alliance (B&TA). Mr. Burkett is one of the founding entrepreneurs of the original “Gang of 5″, an entrepreneurial advisory network. Mr. Burkett also sits on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN).

Mr. Burkett is a published author, having co-authored The Linux Programmer’s Guide, The New Linux Book, and Linux Programming Whitepapers. He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Computerworld, and Datamation, and has written feature articles for TechLINKS, WebSmith Magazine and The Linux Journal. He has been featured as a speaker at events sponsored by such organizations as Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center incubator (ATDC), the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA), ExecuNet, The 400 Technology Connection, The Kettering Executive Network, Association of Career Professionals International (ACPI), i-Compass, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Mr. Burkett holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from Thomas A. Edison State College, and is a cold-war veteran of the U.S. Army’s Third Infantry Division. Mr. Burkett also sits on the advisory boards of Group 1 Solutions and Meisner Acrylic Casting. He is also a member of ExecuNet, the Kettering Executive Network, the MIT Enterprise Forum, and the 400 Technology Connection.

Mr. Burkett lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area with his wife and daughter. He and his wife are avid art collectors, and patrons of Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, and are involved in a number of charities, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, and the Humane Society.

Mike Blake

Michael Blake, CFA

Mr. Blake is a valuation expert for Adams Capital, Inc. He has twelve years experience in capital raising and merger and acquisition support, including the valuation and financial management of early stage ventures. Prior to joining Adams Capital, Mr. Blake founded 3SVentures, LLC, a consultancy focusing on supporting the financial development of early stage ventures, providing outsourced corporate finance services to Atlanta businesses, and offering part-time CFO services for small companies. Adams Capital acquired 3SVentures in 2005.

Mr. Blake worked for Jaakko Pöyry Consulting, a global strategic consulting firm specializing in the forestry-related industries; Orama Partners, a New York merchant bank raising capital for and investing in emerging technology firms in Israel and North America; and Global Partner Ventures, a Richmond-based venture capital fund specializing in the commercialization of military technologies. Mr. Blake is fluent in English, Russian and French.

Mr. Blake’s industry experience includes information technology, medical devices, drug development, computer hardware, electronic entertainment, telecommunications, publishing, business services, e-commerce and Internet-driven services, aerospace, and paper & timber.

Education and Professional Affiliations

Mr. Blake received his Bachelor’s Degree, Cum Laude, in Economics and French from Franklin & Marshall College and his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Georgetown University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute (formerly Association for Investment Management and Research, AIMR.) Mr. Blake is also a member of the Stamford, Connecticut Society of Investment Analysts (SSIA,) is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and is the President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Georgetown University MBA Alumni Association.
